Update: Saturday afternoon
Travel will become difficult tonight through Monday morning. Up to 4 feet of snow expected if not more for the Sierra crest and Hwy 88 corridor thru Kirkwood, between tonight and Monday Morning. This is a dangerous storm, roads will become impassible. Pay attention and stay in touch with Caltrans at 800-427-7623.
There will be snow down to as low as 3000 feet from this dynamic system and a lot of it!
The tide has finally turned and mother nature is going to freshen things up starting late Friday and especially Saturday Night into Sunday. There will be a break on Monday afternoon with more precipitation moving in a steady series of storms over the next 2 weeks.

A strong system arrives on Saturday and Saturday night, likely bringing heavy precipitation, gusty winds, and heavy mountain snow. Weather systems continue into early next week. Longer-range outlooks indicate that periodic storms are likely to continue through at least mid-March with another significant storm potentially arriving end of next week.
